Pitches Be Crazy!

Today is the start of our first annual Pitches Be Crazy kickball season!! Yes that is our team name and yes we are going to kick butt (I hope)....For those of you who have never partaken in an adult kickball league, all you need to know is how to kick a big red ball, drink a beer and run as fast as you can. Sometimes easier said than done!

Costumes anyone?

Pat and I are on the hunt for a great couples Halloween costume that we can use year after year. After seeking out some inspiration I've concluded that the best costumes are for adorable babies...and since we don't have one of those to live vicariously through, the hunt continues!

Fabulously Fashionable

Blair Eadie of Atlantic-Pacific has the most enviable style that I drool over on a daily basis. A fun mix of East Coast preppy chic and San Francisco bohemian elements...I absolutely adore her blog and am so impressed not only with the outfits but with the rockin' photos she gets of herself each day. Such fun fashion inspiration (and mostly at an affordable price)!

Lake Love

Yesterday was perhaps our last weekend out on the lake before Fall/Winter arrives. Such a gorgeous day with two of my favorite people! Hope you all had an equally fabulous weekend.

Too soon for Fall?

While most people are relishing the last few weeks of summer, I'm anxiously awaiting the beginning of my favorite season: fall. The crisp dry air with a cool breeze, the gorgeous color of changing leaves, spending a sunday picking apples at the orchard and of course planning for our very first Halloween Party! At this time of year living in a neighborhood full of kids definitely has it's pros- trick or treaters galore! I can't wait to pass out candy and of course decorate the house for the holiday. Below are some fun ideas...
Too lazy to carve a pumpkin? Why not mummify!

Gorg Painted Pumpkins
I don't have an orange door but I wouldn't put it past me to go all out like this....

Big Bad Book Club

Reading and I have not always been friends. Ask anyone in my family about me and books and they'd be surprised the two words were even in the same sentence. Although I admit this is true, I've recently made a conscious effort to read as much as possible. For me, a new book purchase is typically spurred by an international trip with a long flight or a very practical need (aka needing to learn how to raise a puppy). This tends to lead to sporadic reading so to change my habits (and after being inspired by a college friend) I got a few friends together to start a book club. One happy hour later and voila we have our first book and monthly meetings (aka drinking, eating, gossip and book discussion sessions) set up!  Our first read will be Water for Elephants which I'm very excited to start. I'll make sure to post book recommendations from here on out...

Until then happy reading!

Polka Dot Party

I was lucky to be able to attend the amazing Glamorama fashion show last Saturday at Minneapolis' Orpheum theatre. It was a wonderful evening full of haute fashion and chart topping musical performances by the talented Bruno Mars and Far East Movement. Although they were amazing, it wasn't the popular music acts that had me giddy in my seat...it was the Marc Jacobs polka dot/Lichtenstein themed runway that had me begging for more...Now don't get me wrong, this show is definitely not equivalent to the runways of Milan or NYC but in Minneapolis it's as close as we get...and it's close enough to get a girl shopping for dots....

I'm not quite in the market for a full Marc Jacobs couture get-up so for now I will stick to drooling over these fun dotted numbers...

Friday Photos

Fun photo inspiration for the weekend!
Pumpkin pie cupcake with graham cracker bottom? Yes please fall.

I'm in need of a good mani/pedi this weekend and although I won't be wearing Jellies they remind me of my childhood summers more than anything!
I'm counting the days until I can build my dream home and I LOVE the idea of bright yellow striped wallpaper!

I hope you all have a wonderful weekend filled with fun projects!
